Abstract

The phenomenon of annual population growth has led to urban expansion in Pekalongan Regency, resulting in the reduction of open land or vegetation due to land-use changes. The decrease in vegetation is one of the indicators of rising land surface temperatures. This is evident from BMKG's 2024 predictions, which highlight global atmospheric dynamics such as ENSO (El Niño-Southern Oscillation) and IOD (Indian Ocean Dipole) that influence rising land surface temperatures in various regions, including Pekalongan Regency. This study aims to analyze vegetation distribution (NDVI) and its impact on the increase in land surface temperature (LST) in Pekalongan Regency from 2019 to 2024. The research employs a quantitative approach, using spatial analysis methods that include NDVI and LST analysis through remote sensing, as well as statistical analysis involving correlation tests and simple linear regression tests. The software used in this study includes ArcGIS 10.8 and Excel 2021. The results of this study are expected to demonstrate how changes in vegetation distribution, as reflected by NDVI values, affect land surface temperatures in Pekalongan Regency from 2019 to 2024.
